Custom Quilts Workshops and Classes

It is our goal to provide you with a wide range of classes for every skill level. Our classes are small so the instructors can help every student. If you are looking for a class that we don't have scheduled, please ask. If we can find four students, we can schedule the class. Any of the TBA classes will be scheduled if we have four interested students. We want you to have a fun learning experience so you can achieve a successful experience. 


Free Demos

Have you seen the new rulers from Creative Grids? They are so weird they’re cool!! They have triangles hooked right onto them. And you won’t believe what you can do with them. Stop in and catch a demonstration. Once you see what you can do with these, you’ll see why you can’t live without them. 

Rulers being demonstrated in February are the Creative Grids Double Strip 45, 60 & 90 degree rulers.

Beginner’s Class, Basics and Beyond

Never made a quilt? This class is perfect for your first quilt experience. Learn everything you need to know to right from the beginning. Learn about fabric and how to accurately cut it. Learn how to chain piece and square up your blocks. Then learn different setting ideas for your blocks. This class is great for the beginners or someone who needs to brush up on the basics.

Beginner Paper Piecing

Some call it paper piecing, some call it foundation piecing, but it is a great addition to add to your list of techniques. It is great for small pieces and points. Learn the basics and see how many great things you can create! This year’s Block of the Month is Mariners Compass Starts from around the world that are paper pieced. So learn the technique and join the Block of the Month and make a beautiful quilt.

Single Irish Chain for Beginners

Here is a great quilt for the beginning quilter. Learn how to strip piece to make nine patches. This quilt makes up into a beautiful pattern with simple piecing techniques. Great for the beginner.

Zig Zag Baby Quilt

Do you enjoy picking and placing colors? Well we have a quilt for you, picking and placing colors are the hardest part of the Zig Zag Baby Quilt. Easy piecing makes the rest of this quilt fly together, but the color placement makes it look show quality.

T-shirt Quilt

Empty out your closet and put all those T-shirts you've been saving to good use - make a memory quilt out of them. Use your old T-shirts or sweatshirts, maybe add some pictures in there and make a beautiful quilt to remember all those wonderful times. Great for that child that is going off to college or graduating from college.

Stain Glass

The wallhanging would look great hanging on the was in your cabin, or den. Learn different piecing techniques to make the trees and houses, and mix in those log cabin blocks to make this rustic wallhanging.

Pipe Dreams

Make this quilt of illusion for your bed. This quilt really comes to life with the 3-D effect and will jump out when you see it. This quilt will take some experience but you don't need to be an expert.

Crazy Quilt

Make a crazy quilt like grandma used to but made easier and faster. We have lots of fabrics available to make a wonderful crazy quilt with lots of different textures and colors. Then learn how to put the blocks together and then embellish them just like grama used to. Learn how to use your machine to do those decorative stitches and learn how to do those wonderful traditional stitches by hand. Learn how to embellish and make this beautiful quilt.

Rail Fence & Stars

Combine two simple blocks, the Split Rail and a simple Corner Stars, and spruce it with a fancy sashing. These simple steps are all it takes to make this gorgeous quilt in no time at all, by learning strip piecing and quick corners. This quilt will make you appear to be an experienced quilter (unless you actually are) and be the envy of your un experienced quilting friends.

Unscheduled Classes

The following classes are not currently scheduled but are offered at Custom Quilts and Sewing Center. Feel free to contact us if you are interested in an unscheduled class. Classes require at least four students to be scheduled, so if you have some friends that are interested in a class contact us and we can schedule it to your convenience.


Mitered Corners

Need to make your quilt bigger but don't want the same old block corners? Mitered corners dress up a quilt with lots of borders but can be very intimidating. Well, let us show you how easy it really is. Bring in your project and your borders and I will show you how to sew them together, add them to the quilt and miter the corners. At the end of the Workshop, Mitered corners will never intimidate you again!

Triangle Jubilee

Fast and easy hourglass pinwheels. Learn how to do half square triangles quick and easy in this class. See how many different patterns you can create using lights and darks. Need a baby quilt? Whip this up in no time at all.

This pattern is great if you have a large print fabric you just can't bear to cut up. With some easy and simple piecing you can showcase these beautiful prints, and look like a pro. This class is beginner friendly, simple, and fast.

Leave it to Eleanor Burns to make pinwheels easy. Learn how to make these Double Pinwheels fast and easy. Create enough blocks for the center of your quilt and the borders too. This is a one-day class.

Confidence with Color

Color selection can be very daunting for many people, so Charlaine Ezell has developed a class to take you through the color selection process. You will learn  three things  1. to identify background colors in your main fabric 2. create complexity in a simple quilt design using color and 3. develop increasing confidence when selecting a palette of fabrics for a single quilt project. Seating is limited to 12 people so call and reserve your space today.
